Congratulations to our dance instructors Denis Kojinov and Jeanette Chevalier on a great performance last weekend at 2025 CSIT World Championships and World Cups in Toronto, Canada. They placed 3rd in World Cup Open Standard in their age category starting in quarter-final! Great job.
This competition was the 1st leg of the World Amateur Dancesport Championships 2025 organized by DanceSport Heritage for CSIT. Dancesport Heritage (DSH) is a competitive system created to protect the heritage of international styles of competitive ballroom and Latin American dancing by offering a series of championships that honor the history of the sport. It is a project focused exclusively on these specific dances to revive interest in them and maintain the glamorous, respectful, and unique atmosphere of classic competitions. DSH provides an organized competition structure with specific ranking rules based on age and skill level to ensure fair competition and a focus on the art form's traditional roots.
CSIT is an organization which is recognized by the International Olympic Committee (IOC). Athletes from many countries travelled to Canada to participate in this event.
International Standard is a category of competitive ballroom dancing that includes the five dances: Waltz, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Slow Foxtrot, and Quickstep. This style is characterized by couples maintaining a "closed hold" throughout the dance, moving counter-clockwise around the floor, and is known for being technically demanding and precise.
Competitive ballroom dance is difficult because it requires high levels of physical skill, mental focus, and dedication from both partners to achieve a high level of technical mastery and seamless coordination. The difficulty comes from the specific, complex techniques needed for competition, the physical demands of a sport, and the need for perfect synergy between partners.
